Connecting Asia to accelerate decarbonisation
Introducing the Asia Green Grid Network
To drive innovation for renewable electricity grid connectivity across Asia, tackling technical and logistical issues spanning transmission, generation and storage.
Bringing together research, industry and business to share knowledge and ideas on key green grid areas.
Delivering lectures on important topics of green grid development, including HVDC transmission and policy best practices, promoting capability-building in Singapore.
Conducting collaborative R&D activities with partners, with potential eligibility for future funding.
A range of research institutions and corporations from across Singapore. The network will later be expanded to include institutions from Australia, Indonesia and eventually other parts of Asia.
Electricity connectivity opportunities
Asia Pacific gets 71% of its electricity from fossil fuel sources today. Electricity demand in the Asia-Pacific will increase by 70% to 2040 and more than double to 2050.
Asia-Pacific has limited capacity to add locally-produced renewable energy due to land and resource constraints.
Asia-Pacific needs to supply rapidly-increasing electricity demand whilst simultaneously decarbonising its electricity supply.
